MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY - Mountain View County has lifted a fire restriction in place since April 23, officials said Wednesday morning.

Recent snowfall in the district and a forecast of further anticipated moisture led to the restriction being ended.

“The public is urged to exercise caution while burning and use precautionary measures such as screens and spark arresters on burning barrels, cultivated areas surrounding controlled burns, and have a supply of water readily available at all times,” said chief administrative officer Jeff Holmes.

Fire permits are required year-round in the county. Permits can be obtained on the county’s website or by contacting the county office at 403-335-3311.

Under the fire restriction put in place on April 23, all fire and firework permits were cancelled and no new fire or fireworks permits were going to be issued until the restriction was lifted.
